The Haunted Trail
In the scary darkness of night
Barren limbs begin to flail.
The bitter wind howls through the trees
As the black bats sail.
Frightened completely out of our wits
We walk the horror trail.
Afraid of what we cannot see
To the end, we dare not fail.
Inch by inch, we huddle oh so close.
Moving steadfastly on
A screaming mummy and, of course.
Something cool and slimy we'd brush upon.
Shuddering and shivering
When will we reach the end?
A slobbering ghoul...Oh No! Oh No!
He wants to be our friend!
Hurrying now, running very fast
With cobwebs in our hair
Huge spiders and big fat rats
Good Lord, they are everywhere!
Ghosts playing a game of croquet
In the cemetery place
We stopped, frightened, yet amused
'Til one flew right in our face.
Scampering through a deep dark dungeon
Where the vampires are supposed to sleep
EGADS, ALL THE COFFINS WERE EMPTY!
It surely gave us the creeps!
Now we were really scared
The bloodsucking dead were looming close
Lookout! Be careful! Beware!
The growl of a hungry werewolf
It chilled us to the bone
All we wanted that very instant
Was a telephone to call home
Three witches were stirring
A black cauldron of brew
Cackling and chanting, then suddenly
POOF! There were two!
The third witch, she reappeared before us
Crooking her bony finger, you see
Hoping she was our fairy godmother in drag
We followed her readily!
As if stepping through a time warp
She led us over a short brick wall
Ahhh, the sweet smell of cotton candy
At the Halloween Carnival
For it is the night of make believe
It comes along only once a year
We chance to act out our wildest fantasies
The haunted trail fills us with fear
It all seems terribly realistic...
You have to wonder if, just maybe...
Some of those little goblins we found within,
Could they be real entities?
BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
